A solemn scene lit up the Palais de la Nation as 69 senior magistrates from the Cour de cassation, the Conseil d'État and the parquets généraux were sworn in by President Félix Tshisekedi.
This crucial moment took place during a ceremony marked by gravity, marking the inauguration of these high-ranking magistrates, who were recently appointed last August.
They swore, before the Head of State, "to respect the Constitution and laws of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and to perform loyally and faithfully, with honour and dignity, the duties entrusted to them". After pronouncing these words, they signed the minutes of the swearing-in ceremony, thereby committing themselves to justice and to the Congolese people.
President Tshisekedi, in his capacity as Supreme Magistrate, officially acknowledged the oath, underlining the importance of the solemn commitment made by these senior magistrates for the future of justice in the country.
These men and women of the law, newly invested with their functions, begin their mission with an acute sense of responsibility. They include 1 first president, 8 presidents and 20 councillors of the Court of Cassation, 5 first advocates-general of the Republic and 8 advocates-general of the Republic attached to the Court of Cassation, 5 presidents and 9 councillors of the Council of State, as well as 5 first advocates-general and 8 advocates-general for the public prosecutor's office attached to the Council of State.
These appointments and transfers are part of the reforms aimed at strengthening the country's judicial system, an initiative by President Tshisekedi to consolidate the rule of law and guarantee fair justice for all Congolese citizens. An important step towards a future where justice and legality prevail.
