In a recent development in South Kivu, allegations of electoral fraud have led to the preventive suspension of a key IT specialist. According to reliable sources, the individual concerned was involved in irregularities at the EP Ulindi site, raising questions about the integrity of the electoral process in the region.
According to an official communication from the National Executive Secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), the IT specialist played a role in the fraudulent activities observed on the EP Ulindi site, identified by the code 6049034. This site comprises three polling places and fifteen polling stations, all of which were marked by alleged irregularities.
More serious accusations suggest that the computer expert ordered the Formateur Electoral (FET) and the Chef de Centre de Vote (CCV) to leave the town of Bukavu. This action was allegedly taken to avoid confrontation with the Technical Supervisor, underlining the seriousness of the allegations.
CENI described these actions as "highly subversive behaviour and "gross misconduct. In view of the seriousness of these accusations and the negative impact on the voting process and CENI's image, the IT specialist has been suspended for 15 days as a precautionary measure.
This suspension, effective immediately, was decided pending a more in-depth investigation. The CENI Bureau has announced that it will take a final decision on this matter once the investigation, which will be launched without delay, has been completed.
