President Tshisekedi on tour in Haut-Katanga and Lualaba

Under the twilight of 1ᵉʳ October, the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, accompanied by the First Lady, Denise Nyakeru, landed in Lubumbashi, the economic capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo and capital of the province of Haut-Katanga.

Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde led a delegation of national and provincial authorities who honoured the presidential couple on the tarmac at Bipemba airport.

After a warm welcome from the enthusiastic public at the Carrefour roundabout, the President moved into his official residence.

Lubumbashi marks the start of a tour that will take him to Kasenga (200 km), Kasumbalesa (90 km) and Sakanya (30 km) in Haut-Katanga, before continuing on to Lwalaba.

In Kasenga, the President will launch construction work on the Kasomeno-Kasenga-Chalwe road (200 km) and the bridge over the Luapula river, on the border with Zambia. This infrastructure is crucial to cross-border trade between the DRC and Zambia. Presidents Tshisekedi and Hichilema will attend the launch of the works and the signing of an agreement on infrastructure between their sectoral ministers.

In Kasumbalesa and Sakanya, the President will inaugurate a series of border infrastructures, including a dry port. He also plans to meet the local population in Kasumbalesa.

In Kolwezi, in Lualaba, the presidential tour will be marked by the inauguration of public infrastructure and the launch of electricity production from the Busanga hydroelectric dam.

President Tshisekedi will also inspect projects carried out under the Local Development Programme for the 145 territories (PDL-145 T) in Haut-Katanga and Lualaba.

The First Lady, Denise Nyakeru, will also be very active during this mission.

This tour illustrates the government's commitment to economic development and improving infrastructure in Haut-Katanga and Lualaba, and strengthens cross-border links with Zambia, thereby contributing to the prosperity of the region.
