Google is pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence with its latest updates to the mighty Bard. Not only do these updates extend existing functionality to new countries, including France, but they also bring some impressive innovations. Here's an overview of the latest Bard developments:
New and exciting additions to the French version of Bard
What was once reserved for the English version of Bard is now available in France. Here's what you need to know:
- Visual Responses Bard can now respond by including images directly in the conversation, adding a visual dimension to responses.
- Google Lens You can use Google Lens with Bard to upload your own images and ask him for information, or even have him write a text based on them.
- Customising Responses You have complete control over the length and tone of Bard's responses. Choose between shorter or longer, simpler or more formal responses, depending on your needs.
- Audio Answers If you prefer to listen to Bard's answers rather than read them, Bard can now provide you with answers in audio form.
Checking Answers with Google
A feature unique to the English version of Bard is the ability to check Bard's answers on the Google search engine. By clicking on the 'Google it' icon, Bard will analyse the answer and search for other online content that might support or contradict it. Relevant phrases will be highlighted for easy verification.
Integrating Bard into Google Services
Bard extensions are currently only available in English. However, they open up exciting new opportunities for interacting with Bard within Google services. Imagine planning a trip by asking Bard to retrieve availability dates from Gmail, check flight and hotel information in real time, plan the perfect itinerary, or even find videos of things to do locally, all in one conversation.
With regard to privacy concerns, Yury Pinsky, Bard's product manager, assures us that Gmail, Drive and Docs content will not be accessible to reviewers and will not be used for advertising purposes or to train Bard's language model.
Sharing Conversations
An interesting new feature allows you to share your Bard conversations with your friends. The link provided is not only searchable, but also allows your friends to pick up the conversation from where you left off.
So what do you think of these new features? Are they useful features or does Google Bard go too far into your privacy? Either way, these updates push back the boundaries of what artificial intelligence can achieve.
