Cyber-attack in Israel: planes disrupted during landing by GPS hacking

Israel is facing a major cyber-attack targeting aircraft GPS systems, forcing several flights to reconsider their landing routes at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport. This situation was revealed by Israel Hayom, which reports that these flight diversions to alternative routes, notably via the West Bank, are considerably lengthening journeys.

Cyber attacks targeting GPS signals seriously disrupt standard aircraft landing processes. As a result, most aircraft are forced to use alternate routes, relying on an alternative approach method called ILS (Instrument Landing System).

This has led to complaints about the "unbearable noise" generated by aircraft flying over certain Jewish settlements in the West Bank, notably Modiin Illit, Hashmonaim, Lapid and Kfar Oranim. In response to these concerns, the authorities explained the need to change the flight itinerary.
