Canva challenges Photoshop with a suite of AI-powered tools

Canva, the online graphic design platform, is celebrating its tenth anniversary with the launch of Studio Magiquea suite of tools powered by generative artificial intelligence. This initiative places Canva in direct competition with Adobe, by exploiting AI for graphic design.

Studio Magique includes several innovative tools. Média Magique generates images and videos from simple descriptions. Design Magique produces graphic montages in response to text requests. Transformation Magique converts content for different platforms and channels by adjusting format, language and size. The suite also offers AI-driven editing tools, including Magic magnification, Magic editing, Background eraser and Magic animation to animate designs.

One of Canva's advantages over Adobe is its Magic Writing tool, based on OpenAI's GPT language model. It assists users in writing texts, offering summaries, tone changes and more to improve their content.

Canva also focuses on user confidentiality with Canva Shield, preventing their creations from being used by Canva without explicit permission. Companies benefit from administrative control over which members of their team have access to AI, as well as a guarantee against copyright issues related to content created with Studio Magique.

Most of the tools in the suite are free, but Canva Pro, at €11.99 per month, offers access to exclusive features such as Magic Transformation and Background Eraser. The move puts Canva in a position to rival Adobe in using AI to create visual content, while also offering AI-assisted authoring capabilities.

This new offering demonstrates Canva's ongoing commitment to expanding its functionality and making content creation more accessible to users of all levels.
